Exclusive designer of clothing Evisu is the product of Japanese designer and jean genius Hidehiko Yamane, and is one of the most popular clothing brands in the top end of the fashion food chain.

The Evisu brand began in the 1980's, whilst Yamene was looking for quality denim clothing to import from the US to Japan. After a fruitless search, he began to realise that the orignial denim jean which was popularised in the post-war American scene was no longer available on the market.

One day, he came across a 1950's american loom that was capable of weaving 40 meters of selvage a day where the selvage is visible inside the jeans. This gave him the idea to create his own unique Evisu brand of jeans, and so in 1988, the E visu brand was born. Yamene decided to combine traditional Japanese handicraft with vintage jeans styling to create a distinct brand.

Yamene originally called his product jeans Evisu , after the buddhist god of prosperity and they were made in Osaka from pure American cotton. Today, each pair of Evisu jeans are made from 100% Japanese indigo dyed denim and features 23 details which make them unique.

The seagull logo for Evisu is reminiscent of the Golden Arches of Macdonalds - reflecting the oriental fascination with western globalisation, and is a designer brand that is instantly recognisable the world over.

In 2000, evisu created a limited edition jean with 22 carat gold embroidered logo. Yamane personally signed each of the 100 pairs. Each pair of limited edition evisu jeans cost £1200. (Unfortunately, these jeans are not currently in stock at Milan Clothing.)

Exclusive designer Evisu also create a range of other clothing including shirts, t shirts, tailored shirts, polo shirts, track tops, cardigans, fleeces, parkas, hats, belts and bags. New Evisu brands are appearing all the time, including Kizzu, Evisu deluxe, Evisu European Edition and Evisu Shoos.
